I'm taking on the 100 Miles Challenge this year to support Social Bite

I'm taking on the 100 Miles Challenge this year to support Social Bite break the cycle of homelessness, completing 100 miles throughout September and finishing on World Homeless Day on October 10th. This challenge will raise vital funds to expand the innovative work of Social Bite in providing homes, jobs, and food. Social Bite believes everyone deserves a safe place to call home, that a job can be truly transformative for someone who has experienced homelessness, and that food is one of the most powerful engagement tools to help signpost people to access the support needed. I would be grateful if you could support my fundraising efforts with a donation to this page. Every £20 donation could help Social Bite to provide x4 meals for people experiencing homelessness. Together with your support, we can truly help break the cycle of homelessness.

Back on the bike

Following physio’s instructions to help with Achilles tendon. I think this gets me to around 65 miles.

Gaelic Class Stroll

Friday 25th Sep
Friday afternoons, I go to a Gaelic Class in the White House, Maryhill, at the top of a set of locks on the Forth & Clyde. With the tendon strain easing off, I managed a short walk along the canal before and after the class.

Achilles Tendon strain easing off…

Thursday 24th Sep
Doing this challenge with a strained Achilles tendon. So probably not going to make it to the target… but my physio has been encouraging me to do as much exercise as possible without being silly and doing too much. Cycling is fine, no stress on the tendon. Walking not so good. But without this challenge I doubt I’d have been down to the gym so often. Or in the cafe 🤣

In the gym…

Monday 7th Sep
My Achilles tendon strain is restricting how far I can walk - about 1km at a time. But stationary bike is exercise without putting weight on the tendon. 15minute Technogym workout is ok. So be doing those as often as I can.

Feeling brave…

I did this challenge last year. At moment I’m recovering from an Achilles tendon strain… My physio says cycling is OK. So fingers crossed for Sept. Must update the spreadsheet.
