Is there an entry fee?
No, this event is completely free to sign up for. We do ask that participants fundraise for Social Bite to help break the cycle of homelessness
Can I register as part of a team?
Yes, when completing your registration you can create or join a team.
When is the sleep out?
The Sleep Out will take place on the night of Monday 6th October
Where is the Sleep Out taking place?
The Sleep Out will be taking place in a central London location. You will receive further instructions closer to the date with the exact location and on the day details required.
Is there a minimum age requirement to take part?
Yes. the event is only open to participants over the age of 18, and participants who have been invited.
Can anyone attend?
Only invited participants who have pre registered and raised their sponsorship may attend with the ticket issued in their name.
Unfortunately we are not able to admit anyone without a ticket who has not registered.
Can I bring a guest?
It is not possible to bring a guest on the day, nor register on the day for the event.
Weather and Kit
What happens if the event is cancelled?
f the event is cancelled for any reason, the raised funds will still go to the charity and Social Bite will endeavour to put on an alternative event within a reasonable timeframe.
What should I bring with me?
There are a number of items you should bring to the event however, we encourage you to only bring what is necessary. There are a few essential items below that we must insist you bring, such as a sleeping bag, warm clothes and photo ID, without them we reserve the right to ask you to leave the event for your own safety.
Make a list of all the essential equipment you will need. Ensure everything is working correctly before you need them on the night.
The following items are essential:
• Good quality sleeping bag - we recommend a 3-4 season sleeping bag suitable for winter.
• Warm, layered clothing including an outdoor coat – examples include layered leggings, jogging bottoms, vest, tshirts, hoodie, thick
waterproof coat, warm socks, comfortable outdoor shoes or boots, and a hat.
• Photo ID
The following items are also permitted:
• Foam ground mat. N.B. cardboard will be provided to you upon arrival to place under your sleeping bag.
• Bivvy bag (a plastic waterproof cover for your sleeping bag).
• Flask/hot cup (we will provide hot drinks).
• Water bottle.
• Hand sanitiser.
• Easy-to-eat food items (energy bars, trail mix, etc).
• Hat, gloves, scarf.
• Handwarmers.
• Umbrella.
• A small hand or head torch.
• A bin bag for your rubbish.
• Any essential medication you will need while you are at the event
What should I not bring with me?
The following is not permitted at the event:
• Alcohol.
• Glass.
• Fires/BBQs.
• Smoke Bombs.
Pyrotechnics, fireworks or explosives.
• Animals (except for assistance dogs).
• Knives, firearms or weapons of any kind.
• Drones.
• Drugs (including illegal substances; legal highs and NOS gas).
• Amplified music.
• Laser pointers.
• Tent/shelters/gazebos or mattresses/inflatables.
• Pets.
What if it rains or the weather is bad?
Unless there is an extreme weather event the event will go ahead. Our on-site H&S team will monitor and assess the weather and will only cancel in the event it is deemed dangerous to proceed.
On the night
What is provided on site?
• Toilets.
• Free drinking water and hot drinks throughout the whole event,
which can be found in the Welfare tent where you can also meet
Social Bite staff and volunteers.
• Waste bins.
• Medical & welfare services for if you feel unwell.
• Overnight Security.
• Social Bite staff and volunteers to assist with any queries
Wil there be an event programme?
There will be some entertainment in the form of things like musical performance, video, story-telling and ‘thank you’s.
Full programme
content will not be announced pre-event. Once you arrive you will be directed to the sleep zones where you can view the programme, which will commence at 7pm. The content will conclude at 10pm and then it’s time to go to sleep until the morning.
Can I leave and re-enter the Sleep Out?
There is no re-entry upon leaving the event.
Will bags be checked?
Yes, each attendee will be subject to a full bag search upon arrival for safety and security reasons.
Do I need to bring ID?
Yes. For safety and security reasons, all participants will need to bring photo ID (passport or driving licence) or a clear photo of their ID on
their phone. This will be checked against the name on the ticket you have been issued.
The average person walks between 2-3 miles a day so the miles can rack up quickly without you noticing!
What if I need extra assistance to acccess?
Please let us know at community@social-bite.co.uk if you have accessibility requirements so that can check the entrance, exit, and facilities on site meet your needs.
Is smoking or vaping allowed at the event?
No, smoking and vaping is not allowed within the event. However, there will be a designated smoking and vaping area for you to use.
Why is alcohol not permitted?
Drinking alcohol increases the risk of hypothermia and as such we do not have permission to allow alcohol at this event. In addition, we wish to be sympathetic towards alcohol and addiction issues that can be faced by people experiencing homelessness

When you complete your registration, your own unique fundraising page will be automatically created for you
Can I post on social media?
If you post on social media, please DO NOT tag the venue location or mention the name of the venue, for legal and security reasons.
Instead, please use the following wording, hashtags and handles:

in London. We are doing this in solidarity with people experiencing homelessness, while raising money for @social_bite charity projects providing homes, jobs, food and support for long-term change.

How do I access my fundraising page?
Once you register, you will have log in details you can use to access and edit your fundraising page. You will also receive these login details via email.
Is there a set minimum fundraising I need to reach?
Yes, the minimum fundraising target for M&B employees taking part if £300 per person, and £1,000 per person for Partners of M&B
Can I collect cash donations rather than use the online fundraising page?
We'd recommend using the online fundraising page to collect all donations.

I've collected donations using the online fundraising page. Do I need to do anything else to get the donations to Social Bite?
No you don't need to do anything extra. All the donations collected via your online fundraising page come directly through to us automatically.
Can I fundraise for a different charity?
This event is a fundraising campaign created by Social Bite, so all fundraising must go directly to Social Bite. It is not possible to fundraise for another charity through this campaign.
